Michael McFaul
Michael McFaul is one of America’s leading experts on Russia, democracy, and U.S. foreign policy. A former U.S. Ambassador to Russia and senior National Security Council official in the Obama administration, he is now a professor of political science and senior fellow at both the Freeman Spogli Institute and Hoover Institution at Stanford University. His latest book, “Autocrats vs. Democrats: China, Russia, America, and the New Global Disorder,” examines the defining global struggle between democratic and authoritarian systems—and what it means for America’s role in the world.
Larry Diamond
Larry Diamond is one of the world’s leading scholars of democracy and authoritarianism. He is the Mosbacher Senior Fellow in Global Democracy at Stanford University’s Freeman Spogli Institute and the William L. Clayton Senior Fellow at the Hoover Institution, as well as a professor by courtesy of political science and sociology at Stanford. A founding coeditor of the Journal of Democracy, Diamond has spent more than four decades studying democratic development and the forces threatening it around the world, with particular expertise on China, Taiwan, and the global struggle between democracy and authoritarianism.
