Jason Stanley
Jason Stanley is one of the country’s leading scholars of fascism, propaganda, authoritarianism, and the threats they pose to democracy. A philosopher and professor at the University of Toronto, he is the author of several influential books, including “How Fascism Works: The Politics of Us and Them,” “How Propaganda Works,” and “Erasing History: How Fascists Rewrite the Past to Control the Future.” Drawing on philosophy, history, and contemporary politics, Stanley explores how propaganda, attacks on truth and education, and the manipulation of history can be used to weaken democratic institutions and normalize authoritarian ideas. A prominent public intellectual and frequent commentator on American and global politics, he brings both scholarly depth and a deeply personal understanding of the consequences of fascism and political repression.
Patt Morrison
Patt Morrison has a share of two Pulitzer Prizes as a longtime Los Angeles Times writer and columnist. As a public television and radio broadcaster, she has won six Emmys and a dozen Golden Mike awards. Her first book, “Rio LA,” about the Los Angeles River, was a bestseller. Her most recent book is, “Don’t Stop the Presses! Truth, Justice, and the American Newspaper.”
